SŌL Semi-Permanent Topper Care Guide

Thank you for trusting me with your hair restoration journey. Proper care will help keep your topper looking beautiful, comfortable, and secure between maintenance appointments.

Daily Care

Brushing

  • Brush gently 2–3 times per day.

  • Hold the base of the topper while brushing to avoid tension.

  • Use a loop brush or extension-safe brush.

  • Start at the ends and work your way up.

  • Never brush aggressively at the attachment points.

Sleeping

  • Brush thoroughly before bed.

  • Place hair in a loose braid or low ponytail.

  • Sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase whenever possible.

  • Never go to bed with wet hair.

Washing & Shampooing

Wash 1–2 times per week.

Shampooing

  1. Thoroughly saturate your hair and topper with water.

  2. Place a quarter-sized amount of shampoo into your hands and emulsify before applying.

  3. Pat the shampoo onto your scalp and the top of the topper.

  4. Using your fingertips, gently wiggle and massage the shampoo underneath the topper while adding water to help cleanse the scalp beneath.

  5. Rinse thoroughly.

  6. Repeat as needed. I recommend the first 1–2 washes with a clarifying shampoo to remove buildup, followed by a hydrating shampoo for moisture and softness.

Conditioning

  • Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends only.

  • Avoid applying conditioner directly to the topper base or attachment areas.

  • Rinse thoroughly.

After Shower Care

  1. Spray a leave-in conditioner through the mid-lengths and ends.

  2. Gently detangle, starting at the ends and working your way up.

  3. Apply a small amount of lightweight hair oil to the mid-lengths and ends to maintain hydration, softness, and shine.

  4. Ensure the topper base and scalp are completely dry before styling.

Drying

  • Always dry the topper base completely after washing.

  • Focus on drying the attachment area first.

  • Never allow the topper base to remain damp for extended periods.

  • Avoid excessive heat directly on the attachment points.

Styling

  • Use a heat protectant before hot tools.

  • Keep hot tools away from the topper base and attachment areas.

  • Use low to medium heat whenever possible to extend the life of the hair.

Exercise & Active Lifestyle

  • Brush hair after workouts.

  • Dry perspiration from the attachment area as soon as possible.

  • Wear hair in a braid or ponytail during exercise.

  • If swimming, secure hair in a braid and rinse immediately afterward.

Things to Avoid

  • Excessive pulling or tension.

  • Heavy oils or scalp treatments near the attachment points.

  • Picking, scratching, or tugging at the topper.

  • Sleeping with wet hair.
